PDAs

With my brother and sister here visiting, I've gotten off track taking a daily picture. Today after work we went to the Microsoft Visitor Center. This is a lineup of somewhat old PDAs.

Seattle Cheese Festival

This weekend is the Seattle Cheese Festival. I didn't know about it until my sister and I went to Pike's Market for the heck of it. There were so many people that it was hard to get any decent pictures. Most cheeses were great, but there were a few who's flavor and consistency were quite distasteful. See the entire collection of pictures in my Picasa photo album.

You can't have a cheese festival without wine. Featuring wines from Washington, there were also a few from Oregon, France, Spain and Italy.

A Beautiful View

Didn't do anything after work today. But I was looking over some old photos and found this one I really like. Last August, my girlfriend Martha and I went hiking at Mt. Rainier. Here she is at the top of Tolmie Peak (5,939 ft) with a magnificent view of Mt. Rainier (but that's not why it's a beautiful view).

Enjoying the Sunset

After picking up my sister Ili from the airport we drove down to Kirkland for dinner. Before finding a restaurant, we walked down to the marina to enjoy the last rays of sun light.

White-eyed Aliens

The anthers at the end of the filaments look like small alien heads with large white eyes. Sorry it's not as sharp as it should be, but I really need a macro lens for these pictures, but they are too expensive. Please enlarge to see the details.

White

Two weeks ago I took a few pictures of new leafs on a tree behind my apartment. From the thirty or so pictures I took, I really only liked the one with the dark background and the sun shinning on it. But after looking over the collection the last few days, this particular picture grew on me.
It's not as sharp as I would like it to be, but I like the difference between this one with the white background and the original post with the black background.

From the Air

Mt. Rainier with Mt. Hood in the background. Flying back from Nashville and nearing Seattle. I've only had this view once before, so it's great to see such a spectacular view once again.

Commencement

Today is my sister Ili's graduation! She graduated from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee. My dad flew up from Mexico and was invited to give the Invocation at the beginning of the ceremony.

Prayer of Invocation
for the Commencement Celebration of
Lambuth University, May 6, 2007 Jackson, Tenneessee

Spirit of the Living God, come bless us with your love and grace as we gather to celebrate the conclusion of the academic year with students and their families, trustees and faculty of Lambuth University.

God of life and wisdom, come and bless students and teachers all over this country and all over the world with visions of a new humanity, caring, sharing, giving and receiving.

God of justice, come and help us so that we may work for life and against the culture of death at home and abroad.

God of peace, come and help us to establish peace not with guns, but with justice and wisdom whose result will be peace and security according to your word.

God of hope, help us to build bridges of dialogue and understanding instead of walls of separation.

God of creation, come and help us to save the Earth and tis good gifts and beauty for the sake of all People.

God of live, love, forgiveness and creator of new futures and new life, we pray that you will bring consolation and healing, to students, faculty and families of the Virginia Tech community. We also remember those who in this land and other countries daily suffer the loss of family members under the impact of war.

God of mercy, as we rejoice in this celebration in context of peace and security, grant us the courage to work more decisively for peace in the world! Thus we pray in the name of the One who is above all names. Amen and Amen!

Rev, José L. Velazco M.
