Tulips and a Sculpture

I was in downtown Kirkland for a walk and some coffee. I've always wanted a picture of this sculpture of a cow with a dog howling on its back. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until now that the dog blends in with the background. I guess that happens when you are in hurry before the rain gets to you.

Spare Change

Some spare change I have lying around from some trips I took this past year.

The Orange Glow

The orange glow of electric stoves. I wish my apartment would have a gas stove instead. I hate cooking with electricity.

Dusty

A dusty keyboard that I have sitting in the corner at work. A few months ago I accidentally spilled a little bit of coffee on it and guess what, water and electronics don't mix. The lesson? Don't drink and type.

Windy Day

I was at Marymoor Park today, and this guy was finishing his kite surfing (if that is what you call it). As I was driving into the parking lot, he was still gliding, but as I got close enough he was wrapping up. This isn't much a picture like this, it looked much cooler when he was several feet off the ground.

Too Buttery

Movie theater butter style popcorn. Upon closer inspection, this popcorn is a bit too buttery for my tastes. I'll have to get some with less butter for next time. I'm sure my arteries will also thank me for not clogging them up. It was still yummy though. :-)

On a Light Post

This light post I always pass on my way to work was slightly different today.

Wilted

Some wilted flowers I still had hanging around. As contrast, I looked up the picture I took of the same flowers when I bought them earlier this month.

Dinner

Uncooked dinner that is. I was really hungry and couldn't wait to start cooking dinner, but I thought this angle looked neat.

Cape Flaterry

We drove to Cape Flaterry today. It's the most north west point in the continental USA. In this first picture, we are crossing the Puget Sound on a Ferry. You can see another ferry heading towards Seattle and the Olympic Mountains in the background.

Seattle

Yay! Jose and Ili are here for Ili's spring break. They will be here all week long. They arrived last night, but since they were tired from their flight, we didn't do anything. However, today we went all over Seattle. Ok, maybe not all over, but it sure felt like it.

The first thing we did, was go to the Space Needle. The weather was cloudy and rainy and I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth paying $15 per person only to see clouds. But, we got lucky and actually had a pretty decent view of the city and the Puget Sound. In the picture above, you can see part of Elliot Bay and in the distance the rainy clouds. After some minutes, it got really, really windy and the clouds and rain moved in.

After getting tired of hanging out in the clouds, we took the monorail from the Space Needle to downtown. The rain was starting to pick up a bit, so we quickly walked over to Pike's Market. After having lunch at Beechers Hand Made Cheese across from the market, we walked around and looked at the shops. I took this picture in Post Alley during an unexpected moment of sun.

After getting done with Pike's Market, we went to Discovery Park and walked to the beech and went to see the light house. By the light house, we found a Harbor Seal that was all by itself. It was somewhat hard to spot at first, but we were able to distinguish it from the rocks after a while.

Smokey

Our last pet named Smokey was put to sleep today. He was about 15 years old, suffering and very sick. I'm sad that he's gone as he was a very faithful and loving dog. At least he isn't suffering any longer. This great picture of Smokey was taken by my brother Jose in December of 2004.

Two Weeks Later

Two weeks ago I took a picture of a tree outside my bedroom window that was starting to bud. Just in the past few days its flowers have started to bloom. I'm glad I waited a few days to get its picture because it has progressively improved.

I noticed that most of my post for the past week have been somewhat dark and laking color. It's nice to finally return to nice bright colors.

Shadows

I was waiting at a stop light and noticed the construction on the other side of the street. I liked the concentric shadows cast by the roof supports.

Another Night Shot

I had to work late again, so by the time I got out of work, it was dark and rainy. As I walked home I noticed a few flowers covered in raindrops. It's a bit too bright thanks to the flash, but it's late and I didn't want to spend too much time editing the picture. Maybe later.

I just noticed that several of my recent pictures have been at night or in the dark. I think I should try to get something nicer during the day.

At Night

I've always liked the look of trees at night during winter while it's raining and a lamp is shinning through them. Ok, that was a mouthful. I guess you can't really see the rain in this picture, but I was sure getting wet while I took the picture.

After a couple of suggestions from my post on Photoblog, I cropped the picture and removed the empty spaces on the top and right. Let me know what you thing of this edit.

The Long Dark Hall

I had to stay late at work today. So before leaving I took this picture of the deserted hallway. After 9, they turn off some lights; thats why it looks somewhat dark.

Le Toilette

Per my brother Roberto's comment on yesterday's picture, saying I would start taking pictures of my toilet once I ran out of ideas, I lay down on the [recently cleaned] bathroom floor and snapped a few pictures of my toilet. Thanks for the funny idea little brother, because I actually didn't have a picture for today!

Pike's Market

Went to Pike's Market in downtown Seattle. They have the best fresh fruit. Here, you can see part of the Puget Sound and one of the ferries arriving.

Buried in Snow

I was at Snoqualmie today and was impressed with the amount of snow. Here, there was a wall of 9 or 10 feet of snow down this driveway. Further down the road there were a few houses that were also buried in snow. I've never seen so much snow!

After the Cold

Last night it only snowed a bit. In contrast with last night, today was nice and bright.
